Yarn Along: Snow and Books

We had our first snowfall a few days ago. The children were delighted. They ate their breakfast quickly and went right outside. It wasn't a big snowfall, at least not compared to what I'm used to seeing up North, but there was enough snow to roll in. Our first snowy day put me in nesting mode. Like a squirrel I ran around outside gathering up the last of the summer items and putting them away. Many things were accomplished.

I find myself inside the house more these days. I'm creating recipes, cooking hearty meals, reading to my children and at the end of the day when the children are asleep, if I still have energy, I'm knitting. The cardigan is growing steadily but time is passing quickly. Is it already mid-November? I have so many little projects to accomplish for Christmas. Some of them might not get done.

I am reading a variety of books right now. Legendary Learning is still on my bedside table and I've been reading it a little each day, as well as enjoying the latest issue of Taproot. I've also been reading a lot of children's picture books. I love beautifully illustrated children's picture books. Some of favourites are by Graeme Base, Ruth Sanderson, and Jan Brett. My children especially enjoy Jan Brett's recently published book Mossy, a great book for the young naturalist. We've recently discovered a new author, Jackie Morris, who recently compiled and illustrated the most beautiful treasury of nursery rhymes that I have seen; it's called The Cat and the Fiddle. Do you have a favourite children's picture book that is beautifully illustrated?
