Anxiety and Me

With only four posts by mid-April it's clear that things have not been normal. In fact, I have been on a downward spiral the last few weeks. I have been struggling, trying to swim and sinking fast. There have been so many factors that have caused me to feel stressed and overwhelmed lately. Renovations, new baby, mastitis, back pain, and now putting our house up for sale. These are just a few things that have been somewhat stressful.

Unfortunately when I become stressed I react by feeling anxious, usually it passes quickly but lately it has utterly consumed me. My anxieties usually revolve around health, of myself and of my children, but mostly myself. I have taken some steps towards reducing my anxiety, and I hope these things will help. Daily walks, reading...

How do you cope in times of stress? I've already cleared the cupboard of cookies but any other suggestions would be nice.

  1. Hi,
I so fully understand what you are going through right now. During times of stress, AND after a birth, your progesterone levels drop dramatically. I'd encourage you to avoid all estrogenic sources (there are so many out there now - soaps, care products, foods such as carbohydrates, wheat and grains etc.).

The Nourishing Traditions book might offer some suggestions. (I haven't actually read it, but I've seen her advice in many places.) You may find some help in eating a nutrient dense meal or two.

Thank you for sharing what "real life" is like. We sometimes try to bury it and ignore it. It is normal to go through times like this and friends and sisters are there to help.
    Blessings on you!!

    1. Thank you Kaylana for the encouragement and suggestions :) I know that this will pass, eventually, but it is difficult when you're in the midst of it.

  2. Hey lady. I've been thinking about you.... you have a lot on your plate right now, no wonder you're feeling stressed!

I have a fabulous supplement that I have been taking to help me deal with Alex and all the stress that comes along with him, I can send you a link if you like. It's helped me a lot.

  3. You are in my thoughts and prayers my little girl. Where you are right now I was also there when you were born, my first baby girl. It will take time, just be kind to yourself and patiently wait for that dark cloud to leave. As difficult as it is go through, feeling so sad and down, unite yourself to Jesus and believe that in your sadness and pains he also feels it too. Cherish your husband and your lovely little ones, remember you are loved and cherished too by your entire family. Love, maman.

  4. I know how you feel. Sigh. It is so hard. I love the Chaplet in Song and I agree that when I play it, I feel the Holy Spirit's present in the home and I feel at peace for the moment. I've been going to mass more lately. Found a daily mass that is at a good time for us and nearby. I've been going, even when the kids are naughty, and I can feel Jesus strengthening me. Praying the Rosary, confession. I think the sacraments are the best way to battle anxiety. Adoration. Even if you don't feel like going, make yourself. And reading the Gospels and the Psalms. Ok, that is a lot, and you already knew all that. Just do 1 thing of those per day and it will be better. Praying for you.
