Planning a 40th Wedding Anniversary

A 40th wedding anniversary is an exciting milestone and I hope one day (God willing) Hubby and I will celebrate it. This coming Friday is my in-laws' 40th wedding anniversary celebration and I offered to plan it for them. It has been a roller coaster. I'm glad my SIL is helping me out!

The celebration will be held at my in-laws home on the lake. It's a great location. We're going to be catering the meal ourselves (we are either very brave or very stupid or both) for about 75±20 people. We tried to get people to RSVP but my in-laws are so friendly and outgoing that they kept on inviting anyone and everyone they'd bump into... so we really don't know how many people will show up.

The majority of the grocery shopping is done and we'll do most of the food prep on Thursday. I'm a little bit nervous about not having enough food, we did a bunch of calculations to figure out amounts but you never really know how much people will eat. We did buy a few huge bags of chips in case we need them ;)

Here is our menu for the evening:

Mains:
Texas-style Chili
BBQ Pulled Pork

Salads:
Julia's American-Style Potato Salad
Caesar Salad
Jim N' Nick's Coleslaw

Sides:
Vegetable platter
Buns
Pickles

Drinks:
Pop
Juice
Coffee/tea

Dessert:
Chocolate Cake
Ice cream
Fruit platter

Midnight Snack:
Cheese Platter
Crackers

We won't be doing much for decorations since the setting is beautiful already. We're renting kitchen equipment and borrowing tables and chairs - check and check. I'm definitely feeling a little anxious. There's this constant feeling that I might forget something. Please pray that everything goes well!
