Local Produce

I like going to farmers' markets. Our farmers' market is getting better every year and it excites me! My favorite stall sells wonderful local organic produce and is run by a very hard working family. I admire the work that they do. Their produce amazes me. I've never tasted such sweet and juicy green beans or such zesty garlic scapes. I highly recommend checking out your local farmers' market and discovering what kind of treasures are there.

If you live in Western Canada check out one of these websites to help you find a local farmers' markets:

Another great way to get local produce is to go to a U-Pick farm. I get so happy when I find a good U-Pick that my Hubby just laughs at me. We went to one this weekend and picked a couple pails full of big and juicy saskatoons for $1.00/lb. What a find!

There are quite a few websites online that direct you to local U-Picks. Here are some websites that might help:

Happy Picking!

  3. Saskatoons are berries native to Western Canada. They're similar to blueberries in shape and size and taste nutty and sweet.
