Gathering Ideas for Eco-Crafting

The weather has been wet and we've been sick with a terrible cold. This means we haven't gone out much and we're all feeling a little restless. My children have been keeping busy emulating Walk Off the Earth on a guitar that use to be my brother's and I've been working on a few projects. I started knitting something easy that will go nicely with my Cuppow!, which can only mean a mason jar cozy! I've also finished a play cape for my daughter. The cape pattern is from Growing Up Sew Liberated, a book that I really should buy because I keep on taking it out of the library.

After my post on Eco-Friendly Arts and Crafts Kids I've been gathering some ideas for eco-crafting projects. The Green Guide for Artists, Eco Books, Hand Printing from Nature and Nature's Art Box all have neat ideas that I'd like to try with my children. As I gather some ideas for eco-crafting I am curious if you have any suggestions. What are you favourite eco-crafts?

  1. Ahh, beautiful photos. That yarn you're knitting with looks wonderful in its soft self-striping way. Favourite eco-crafts? That's a tough one. The branch blocks we made were a long-lasting hit though. And peg dolls. I'm not sure whether or not they count as eco-friendly, but the children and I LOVE making them!

    1. Thank you :) I love the idea of branch blocks and peg dolls. I'll have to add those to my list.

  2. Love that cape, it is gorgeous. Eco crafts, hmmm...we do the tree blocks too, and peg people. We also like to bring things in from nature to craft with them. We made spiders with pine cones at Halloween, we have done nature collages, used different evergreen branches as paint brushes. We use natural craft supplies and reuse all of our paintings as cards, gift wrap, etc.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon.
