Birthday Interview: Felix at 5

Last week was our eldest's fifth birthday. He requested pierogies for his birthday. I thought it was a strange request but he assured me that's what he wanted, so on the day of his birthday I made him pierogies. They tasted good but were unusually large. I lack pierogie finesse. The birthday boy didn't seem to care. As we ate supper he suddenly became concerned that there were no friends around to celebrate with him. We had been to a child's birthday celebration a month before and apparently it made an impression. According to our son, a birthday celebration needed friends, frog cupcakes and a piñata  Feeling guilty that we hadn't planned anything for him we decided to have a second birthday celebration with friends on the weekend.

It has only been six months since we moved to our new town so I rounded up all the new friends whose contact information I had. None of our new friends knew each other so I was a little nervous about how the celebration would unfold. Thankfully we've met some wonderful people and they were all happy to mingle. It goes without saying that the children had a blast.
