Yarn Along: A Christmas Vest

After completing the cardigan I took a little break from knitting. I worked on a couple sewing projects like these aromatherapy rice packs and a quilt for my son. The quilt has been an ongoing project since the beginning of this year. This past week I finally pieced the top together only to discover that the quilt is smaller than I had anticipated. Getting more of the same fabric will be a challenge so I've put the quilt aside for now. Instead I have picked up my knitting needles in the hopes of completing a knitted vest for my son by Christmas.

The fact is I have only knit one item for my firstborn: this hat. A little sad, I know. Especially considering my daughter has many knit items and so does baby Teddy. But I hope to rectify this problem by knitting my eldest a fabulous Griffin vest using delicious Noro Kyreon yarn.

The vest will be a surprise so I am trying to keep it hidden during the day and work on it after he's gone to bed. I really enjoy knitting with Noro yarn. The colour changes and yarn inconsistencies are fascinating and beautiful.

My children and I have been house bound since the beginning of the week. In some ways it's been good. We have been reading a lot of books. Our shelf is packed with books from the library. Christmas books, Elephant and Piggies books, Mr. Putter and Tabby books and others. On my side table there is Homemade and a couple books by Michael O'Brien. But, I think it's time to go outside and do some exploring. We've been cooped up for far too long.
