Today we drove with our three little children for almost twelve hours on snowy winters roads. The last stretch of highway was treacherous. The snow was falling quickly, it was dark, the road was coated in icy hard packed snow and every time a big semi-truck drove by it was a complete white out. If you've never driven in these kind of conditions be glad. It is not a pleasant thing to experience. A few times I had to talk myself out of jumping out of the car into the snow bank.
I didn't take any pictures of our journey. I was too busy clutching my knitting needles trying to focus on something, anything other than the road. Granted, I am exaggerating a bit. My husband would say that 80% of the drive was good, 10% was a "little sketchy" and 10% was "definitely not good". He is an optimist, I like to think of myself as a realist... he thinks I am a pessimist. We are a good match.
Thankfully we arrived at our destination safely. Seeing our family again is such a blessing and we are looking forward to spending Christmas with them. If you are travelling this Christmas I pray that your travels are safe and that you don't encounter any scary driving conditions.

I was wondering if you'd be coming up for the Holidays...sorry to hear the roads were so bad. I hope to share a hot cup of tea with you if you have time...and by the way, you cannot post cookie pictures without a recipe!! Those look so yummy!

ReplyDeleteP.S. Reece received the top as his Solstice gift today, he loves it!! Thanks again!
So glad he loves the top :)
DeleteYum. Those cookies do look soo delicious. We drove from NY to MN in the winter once. It was so dangerous. There were cars all over the ditches, stalled or abandoned. I was driving and at one point our little Honda Accord go in too deep snow and was pulled in and slid for a good 25 feet and did a 180. I was shocked and thankful we didn't die. Not very many cars on the HWY becaue of the bad weather..if there had been more cars, we would have crashed. Thank you, Lord, for guardian angels.
