Yarn Along: Knitting and Reading

Knitting and reading, I finally have the time to do these things again. I'm getting comfortable with my new library and requesting a ridiculous number of books. The stash of books on my bedside is starting to look decent again, and I'm reading a little bit every night. Right now I'm reading books about home learning and unschooling. I'm really enjoying Legendary Learning: The Famous Homeschoolers' Guide to Self-Directed Excellence, I've only read three chapters but I would definitely recommend it. I've also got The Year of Learning Dangerously: Adventures in Homeschooling, Radical Unschooling: A Revolution Has Begun, and The Unschooling Unmanual but I haven't started reading them. Are there any home learning books that you'd recommending reading?

As for knitting I'm working diligently on a Creature Comfort Cardigan that will given to my mother for Christmas. The leaf design up the back panel is beautiful. I think I'm going to have a difficult time given this cardigan away.

  1. Really? You're reading unschooling books!? I might be a little shocked. ;) We need to make sure we have extensive time to discuss homeschooling at Christmas.

My favourites are: Playful Learning, Real Learning, and A Landscape with Dragons. Also Catholic Homeschooling and Homeschooling with Gentleness.

    1. Those are great books. I've read the first three, seen the fourth and haven't read the last one. I'll have to read it.

  6. That cardigan is going to be beautiful!! Your photos are great. I am reading a few unschooling books too, mostly John Holt and Better Late Than Early, which got a bit boring, but I get the just and it's still worth skimming. I want to read all the books you're reading. Wish we could sit and have tea together while we knit and talk unschooling. =)

    1. Tea and knitting would be so wonderful!! My husband noticed your comment and asked me where you lived... then chuckled when I told him... too bad we live so far way from each other. I'd love to hear your thoughts on unschooling though :)

  8. wow! what a beautiful pattern - i love it and would have a hard time giving it away too. it's so hard to go back and knit the same thing twice for yourself. i always have to move on to something new. i'm intrigued by your book selection and have requested one from the library. i'm currently unschooling my five year old.
