The Feast of St. Nicholas

Happy feast of St. Nicholas!

Last night I realized that I gave away our ugly polyester stockings. I couldn't remember giving them away, but Hubby pointed out to me that I did mention it to him last year. So instead, like true Canadians, we lined up our big bulky winter boots by the unfinished fire place last night. This morning they were filled with all sorts of goodies.

Hubby and Monkey each received a beautiful handmade top from Mountain Tops and I sewed Sweetpea a Hen and Chicks from Handmade Beginnings. There was also some fair trade chocolates and other items tucked into the smelly boots. Monkey was excited. Sweetpea was dazed. She has a bad ear infection, poor girl.

I printed some copies of the St. Nicholas paper doll from Paper Dali for colouring. Later we'll make some Candy Cane Cookies and eat them with hot chocolate. Perhaps we'll even watch Veggie Tales Saint Nicholas: A Story of Joyful Giving.

Did your family do anything special for the feast of St. Nicholas? There's still time for a cup of hot chocolate!
