All Saint's Artist Trading Card Swap

Kimberlee over at Pondered in My Heart is hosting an artist trading card swap for All Saint's Day. All Saint's Day was November 1st but she has graciously extended the deadline for submitting your cards until next week. Children of all ages and adults are welcome to join the swap. To read her instructions on how to participate visit this blog page

After some thought, I decided to join in on the fun. I choose to paint Canada's recently canonized saint:

 St. Andre de Montreal
God's Doorkeeper
1845-1937

St. Andre is Canada's first male Canadian-born saint. He was a man that knew poverty, illness, rejection and homelessness at an early age. St. Andre joined the Congregation of Holy Cross in Montreal, making his final vows at the age of 28, and for the next 40 years acted as the doorkeeper for the Collège Notre-Dame. Brother Andre had great compassion and constantly helped those in need. He attracted many people because of the miracles that were attributed to him. He was a humble man who prayed often to our Lord and had a great devotion to St. Joseph and would ask for his intercession often. Eventually St. Andre would build a church in St. Joseph's honour.

  1. What a beautiful picture! Great job :) Andres told me the story of St. Andre - what an interesting life he's led so far. Thanks for having some details to read up on.
