Brrrr... things are really cooling down over here. This weekend it's supposed to go below zero. It's the season for warm comfort food.
Day 1: Beef stew and steamed cauliflower.
Day 2: Pork loin roast with honey balsamic glaze, roasted root vegetables and homemade rye bread.
Day 3: White bean and vegetable soup Gordon Ramsay's World Kitchen p.65.
Day 4: Spicy stewed lentils (Dhal) and homemade naan bread.
Day 5: Farmers'-market risotto.
Day 6: Homemade pierogies. Any secret family recipes out there?
Desserts:
Angel food cake.
Turkish yogurt cake with citrus syrup Gordon Ramsay's World Kitchen p.151
Josee, where are you getting your spicy stewed lentil recipe from? That sounds super good and I think I might like to try it too.
ReplyDeleteFor the Mennonite version of pierogies, go to: www.mennonitegirlscancook.blogspot.com. They're known as wareneki, and a fav with Brett's bro (I think there are 2 recipes on the site- look under the Mennonite section). We usually stuff ours with ground beef or apples/plums.
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy, the dhal recipe is also from Gordon Ramsay's World Kitchen cookbook on p. 221. I got my copy from the library :) I haven't tried it yet, if it's good I can post the recipe online or email it to you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link Jo-Ann! Those wareneki look yummy :D Have you ever made sauerkraut?
