Weekly Menu

Brrrr... things are really cooling down over here. This weekend it's supposed to go below zero. It's the season for warm comfort food.

Day 1: Beef stew and steamed cauliflower.
Day 2: Pork loin roast with honey balsamic glaze, roasted root vegetables and homemade rye bread.
Day 3: White bean and vegetable soup Gordon Ramsay's World Kitchen p.65.
Day 4: Spicy stewed lentils (Dhal) and homemade naan bread.
Day 5: Farmers'-market risotto.
Day 6: Homemade pierogies. Any secret family recipes out there?

Desserts:
Angel food cake.
Turkish yogurt cake with citrus syrup Gordon Ramsay's World Kitchen p.151

  1. Josee, where are you getting your spicy stewed lentil recipe from? That sounds super good and I think I might like to try it too.

  2. For the Mennonite version of pierogies, go to: www.mennonitegirlscancook.blogspot.com. They're known as wareneki, and a fav with Brett's bro (I think there are 2 recipes on the site- look under the Mennonite section). We usually stuff ours with ground beef or apples/plums.

  3. Hi Cindy, the dhal recipe is also from Gordon Ramsay's World Kitchen cookbook on p. 221. I got my copy from the library :) I haven't tried it yet, if it's good I can post the recipe online or email it to you.

Thanks for the link Jo-Ann! Those wareneki look yummy :D Have you ever made sauerkraut?
