I really don't like wasting food, especially when I know there are people around the world dying of starvation. If something is near expiration I go on double alert... but what am I going to do with 750mls of cream?!?
So I put it in my food processor and voila!
Butter and buttermilk!
It only took 2-3 minutes and now we can all enjoy some homemade butter on our banana bread. Never again does my whipping cream have an excuse to go past its expiration date!
amazing. I didn't even know you could do that.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and your husband will have that trait in common then!....we have often had the discussion as to wether it really is a better deal to buy the larger size when it often dosen't get used...then expires/goes rancid and gets thrown out! What a waste, and to waste food pains me. I wonder how I might achieve the same results with our whipping cream since I am lacking a food processor?
ReplyDeleteHmmm... that's a good question Tanya. I've heard you can make butter by shaking cream in a sealed jar. Apparently kids love doing it :)
